Prospective Graduate Students
Mike Lyons serves as a primary advisor students in the Clinical & School Psychology Doctoral Program. Students interested in the program familiarize themselves about program and application process. If you are interested in being a graduate student in our lab, we encourage you to read more about what we do and who we are! Students who would be a good fit for the lab would have a strong interest in promoting positive youth development and working with schools and communities to increase access to high quality programs.
What do you look for in an applicant?
We are looking for someone interested in studying applied issues related to preventing and promoting student mental health in school settings. In addition, prospective applicants should demonstrate an ability to be successful in graduate school - this means an ability to be successful taking rigorous coursework, engaging in research, and while developing applied clinical skills.
What should I include in my goal statement?
You should describe the reasons for applying to the combined program in Clinical & School psychology and discuss what you would like to do with the degree. You should craft a statement that clearly describes how your prior experiences and future goals align with the mission of the program and our lab. For other tips on how to write a goal statement, see this article from the American Psychological Association (APA).
